In this episode I talk briefly about a variety of different topics that have been on my mind.
- PDFs and Piracy
- Palladium Books on RPGNow
- DLSite.com, Japan’s major site for selling electronic doujinshi stuff. Among the few tabletop RPG products are some stuff from Tsugihagi Honbo and Kodanuki Soba (which does D&D4e adaptations of elements of the Dragon Quest games).
- Randomness and Cinematic Role-Playing
- Oban Star-Racers
- Official Oban Star-Racers Site
- Sav! The World Productions
- Oban at Shout! Factory
- Preview of Episode 1 on Veoh
- Grognardia: Genre Bending
- Raspberry Heaven Design Notes
- The “Pink Panther” is what you get when you put a scoop of strawberry ice cream into lemon-lime soda.
Yaruki Zero Podcast #7 (32 minutes, 26 seconds)
Next Time
I haven’t decided what to do next. ^_^;
This podcast uses selections from the song “Click Click” by Grünemusik, available for free from Jamendo.com. If you like the song, consider buying some CDs from Nankado’s website.
Very awesome caricature of Ewen (with his mascot character Kurumi) courtesy of the talented C. Ellis.
Nice random thoughts.
1: I’d say this about Savage Worlds: while I don’t disagree with your overall point, I think the randomness in Savage Worlds is genre appropriate for the kind of just slightly over-the-top action movie it is attempting to simulate. The exploding die allows for the non-combatant to suddenly kick butt or the wimpy annoying henchman to suddenly be quite dangerous.
2: Totally agreed on Grognardia. The guy is just so prolific, and yet constantly reasoned! btw, it’s pronounced “Mal-eh-sheff-ski”. I interviewed him for a podcast and he told me.
Oh yeah, I forgot my main motivation to comment. I have some technical questions about podcasting and wondered if you could give me some advice, seeing as you are using (I think) the same set up as me. I think you can get my email from the comments data. Thanks!
I’m enjoying your podcast very much, and this while I’m mildly a target for anime/manga rpgs. Your work is excellent, sound quality and content, varied enough for my taste. Even #6 that I was about to dismiss because I don’t care about marketing ended up being pleasant. Thumb up, keep it up!
